Medical Dermatology

Dermatologists specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the skin, hair, and nails. Both Drs. Westmoreland and Sharp evaluate patients of all ages including individuals in both pediatric and geriatric age groups. Both physicians are experts in the management of a variety of skin conditions including skin cancer, moles, psoriasis, eczema, alopecia (hair loss), acne, rosacea, warts, contact dermatitis, and many others.

In addition to the diagnosis of dermatologic conditions, our physicians and center are fully-equipped to treat a wide variety of disorders. A few of these we would like to highlight include:

Liquid nitrogen cryotherapy is used to treat a number of processes including pre-skin cancers (actinic keratoses) and warts. The Levulan® Kerastick ® with blue light is also available to treat actinic keratoses.

We have capabilities to treat with ultraviolet light A or B (UVA, UVB) as well as narrow-band ultraviolet B, often used for psoriasis, dermatitis, or vitiligo. A UVA hand and foot unit is also available.

Our physicians are educated and skilled in the prescription of injectable immunotherapies (Enbrel®, Humira®), which are FDA-approved for psoriasis.

Patch testing with the TRUE TEST® is used to investigate contact dermatitis.

Acne and acne scarring are treated at our center with a number of modalities including topical treatments, oral treatments including oral antibiotics or isotretinoin in severe cases. Our aestheticians may also participate in the therapeutic regimen, performing chemical peels, acne facials, or acne extractions.
